Existence in gas of impurity of a hydrogen sulfide can provoke the fissile corrosion of metals adjoining to gas that will lead to breakage of expensive gas equipment. The higher degree of purification, the higher number of the gas and also efficiency of its use.
Methods for purification of natural gas:
physical absorption (dehydration);
a combination of chemical and physical purification processes;
oxidation of hydrogen sulfide to sulfur loss.
Selection of purification process is based on the gas composition and concentration of impurities therein. In world practice most often they use chemical sorption purification method; second most popular is the combined method.
Filters separators are intended for purification and preparation of natural gas on gas and gas condensate fields, on compressor stations of the main gas pipelines, in underground gas storages, for purification of natural gas at gas-distributing stations for providing settlements and the production enterprises with gas.
Primary processing of gas is at gas-processing plants. In addition to purification and drying, gas is brought to the pressure required for processing. In installations gas is divided into unstable natural gasoline and lean gas that is subsequently pumped into main gas pipelines. Also this purified gas goes to chemical plants, where they produce methanol and ammonia from it.
Natural gas is the cleanest form of hydrocarbon fossil fuels. Its combustion produces only water and carbon dioxide, while combustion of oil and coal produces soot formation and ash.
Natural gas well reacts burning, so often it is transformed into energy: electricity and heat. Natural gas is widely used for heating of residential and private houses, apartment buildings, as water heating and for cooking, as fuel for boilers and TPP.
Natural gas can be used as engine fuel for cars, agricultural, water, air and railway transport.
